Apprenticeship Prize for Lukas Munser

“Many people associate our institute with highly successful science, but we also offer an excellent education,” says Marina Rodnina, Managing Director at the Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Biophysical Chemistry. On August 18, she awarded the prize endowed with 750 Euros to the IT specialist in systems integration.

“Lukas has acquired a tremendous amount of professional knowledge during his apprenticeship and passed a very good exam”, emphasizes his supervisor Felix Kassner. “We are very proud of his development. Lukas is such a helpful colleague and undertakes every effort to always find the best solution for his tasks”. His second supervisor Sven Kinzel adds: “With his project work, Lukas contributed a lot to improve our IT security”. The examination board shared this view and rated Munsers project work with 96 of 100 points, an exceptional achievement.

“For me, the award perfectly complements my training,” says Lukas Munser happily. “I thank all my colleagues in the IT & Electronics Service who have supported me so much during my apprenticeship”. The awardee will continue to work for the MPI for Biophysical Chemistry as an IT specialist in the area of system administration. (is)

Vocal training at the institute and the Apprenticeship Prize of the Max Planck Society

Since its inauguration in 1971, the MPI-BPC has been providing vocal training in the workshops, administration, and service facilities. Currently, 26 young people learn the professions of plant mechanic (for sanitary, heating, and air conditioning technology), electronic engineer (energy and building services engineering as well as devices and systems), IT specialist (systems integration), precision mechanic, office management assistant, metal worker (construction technology), animal keeper (research and clinic), and carpenter. Every year, six to eight young people successfully complete their apprenticeship here – often with outstanding results. Thirty times, trainees of the institute have been elected as guild, chamber, state, or national winners, 23 young peopled have received the MPS Apprenticeship Prize. Furthermore, the Animal Facility, the Carpentry, and the IT & Electronics Service have been awarded the Training Facility Prize. The MPS confers this prize to vocal training facilities with particularly innovative concepts, cooperations with external partners, or offers for additional qualifications.Thejury for both prizes consists of four supervisors and one member each of the General Works Council as well as the General Youth and Trainee Representatives. It awards up to 20 Apprenticeship Prizes and up to 3 Training Facility Prizes per year.
