Public Lecture Series

One of our highest honors is dedicated to Manfred Eigen, the founder of our predecessor institute, the MPI for Biophysical Chemistry. The Manfred Eigen Award Lecture was established in 2018 and recognizes outstanding researchers working successfully in the fields of Manfred Eigen. It is associated with a medal and a prize money of 10,000 euros.The lectures are given in English and all interested parties are welcome to attend.  [more]
The Karl Friedrich Bonhoeffer Award Lecture series was established in honor of the physical chemist Karl Friedrich Bonhoeffer, who advanced scientific interdisciplinarity by applying physical-chemical methods to also solve biological problems. Since December 2004, the institute honors renowned scientists by inviting them to report their latest results in this lecture series. The awardees receive a medal and a prize money of 10,000 euro. The public lectures are held in English.  [more]
Since 2007, the four Göttingen Max Planck Institutes together with the Göttinger Literaturherbst and the Niedersächsische Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek have organized a scientific lecture series at the literature festival Göttinger Literaturherbst. Top researchers present their latest results in public lectures and discuss current research issues with the audience.  [more]
