Night of Science
Impressions of the 6th Science Night in June 2025
On June 21, 25,000 people visited the Night of Science in Göttingen – around 5,800 of them found their way to the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, which hostet the MPI-NAT. At our booth, “In the beginning was the egg”, young and old alike were able to discover the secrets of the egg cell. Director Jochen Rink lectured on his research with flatworms, the masters of regeneration, while research group leader Frauke Alves presented her work on innovative nanoparticles for cancer therapy. At our “3D computer simulations of proteins” booth, visitors immersed themselves in the world of proteins – the nanomachines of the cell. Staff from our Department of Ultrafast Dynamics gave interested visitors of the Faculty of Physics a tour of their laboratory, made ultrafast processes visible, and guided a laser beam through a labyrinth with micrometer precision.
