Retreats
Every year in summer between 20 and 30 PhD students from the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry gather and spend an enriching weekend away from the bench and desk. In a professional but friendly and recreative atmosphere each PhD student gives a short presentation about his or her current scientific project including an introduction to their doctoral thesis, often leading to inspiring and lively discussions.
In addition to the scientific program, a fun excursion to the area surrounding the conference site is scheduled.
Furthermore, we plan to invite young group leaders from all across Europe to upcoming Retreats to give an introduction into their current research in a keynote lecture. This would give the participating PhD students an opportunity to communicate with established scientists about science and career perspectives in an informal way.
