Alec M. Wodtke

Born July 10, 1959 in Salt Lake City, USA. PhD at University of California Berkeley, USA (1985), research stays at the Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Fluid Dynamics Göttingen, University of Kaiserslautern, Catholic University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands, Professor University of California, Santa Barbara (1988-2010), Full Professor (since 1996), Director and Scientific Member at the MPI for Biophysical Chemistry and Professor for Physical Chemistry, University of Göttingen (since 2010). Numerous prizes and awards, among them the Presidential Young Investigator Award of the National Science Foundation, the Humboldt Research Award (1998), an Alexander von Humboldt Professorship (2010), an ERC Advance Award-Grant (2017), the Gerhard-Ertl-Lekture Award (2022), a Somorjai Visiting Miller Research Professorhip at Berkeley (2023) and the Moore Distinguished Scholar at Caltech (2025).
