I gained both my Bachelor's and my Master's Degree in Italy, at the University "La Sapienza" of Rome. My first experience in a biology lab was my Bachelor's Degree thesis in the lab of Professor Miele: there I had the opportunity to participate in the purification process of two proteins of the parasite Schistosoma mansoni. For my Master's Degree thesis I joined Professor Cenci's lab, where I worked with Drosophila melanogaster for more than two years; the project I took part in was focused on the role of the interaction between HP1 and the MRN complex in maintaining genomic stability. I am interested in basic research, and I find the unique biological characteristics of Planarians very intriguing; I am really excited to have the chance to work with this organism. In the Rink lab I will try to understand how size determines neoblast proliferation rates.
