I am an evolutionary biologist interested in how sexual selection shapes molecular and morphological diversity. During my PhD at the University of Basel, I studied the evolution of sexual traits and sex allocation across the free-living flatworm genus Macrostomum. This work allowed me to do fieldwork across the globe, collecting these tiny worms and discovering many new species. Besides the classical morphological investigations, I also spent quite some time on the computer terminal to conduct phylogenomic analysis and investigate the evolutionary rate of reproduction-related genes. In the Rink lab, I will primarily focus on bioinformatics to investigate the genomic differences between sexual and asexual biotypes of the model organism Schmidtea mediterranea. I will also support regular fieldwork at Lake Baikal.
