Fieldwork in the surroundings of Göttingen
The lab has been recently busy optimizing a pipeline for planarian collection and specimen preparation in the Lake Baikal in Siberia. We optimize processes ranging from field data obtention and storage to prepare field-collected samples for whole-genome sequencing. Very varied. Our initial test was in the surroundings of Göttingen in the river Lute and the Flüte. It was a very productive trip that resulted in at least six species, possibly more. We will know soon once we have the barcoding data ready.
