I received my bachelor’s degree in Kenya before pursuing my master’s at the University of Cambridge, where I studied the epidemiological transmission of bacterial strains using one-health approach. During this time, I gained hands-on experience in genomics, which sparked my interest in evolutionary genomics. I then joined ISTA Austria for my PhD, where I investigated the genomic and epigenetic mechanisms underlying Z chromosome evolution, dosage compensation, and gene regulation in crustaceans and lepidopterans. In February 2026, I joined the Rink Department as a postdoctoral researcher where I am focusing on understanding the mechanistic basis of asexuality and why asexual reproduction is so prevalent among planarians. I am also interested in deciphering the genetic basis and regulatory dynamics of adaptive traits in cave planarians.
