Open Positions

Postdoctoral Openings: The research group of Dr. G. Balasubramanian at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen, Germany is inviting applications for Postdoctoral positions. The Postdoctoral researcher will participate in developing a novel microscopy technique called Spin Microscopy. The research efforts will involve developing a scanning magnetometer using spins in diamond for optically sensing weak magnetic fields. The project will employ techniques of Magnetic Resonance combined with diamond spin probes to map magnetic fields of substances at nanoscopic length scales. We are looking for innovative and motivated researchers with strong background in experimental Physical Sciences or Engineering to join our group. The researchers will work in a collaborative and strong research environment within the Max Planck community and other leading international research groups. The Post-doctoral positions are available for two years with a likely extension for two more years. Payment will be either with a fellowship or with TVöD and will commensurate with experience. The Max Planck Society is trying to increase the percentage of women on its scientific staff and strongly encourages applications from qualified women. The Society is also committed to employing more handicapped individuals and especially encourages them to apply. Please send your application including CV, research interests, list of publications and names of two references via e-mail to: gbalasu@mpibpc.mpg.de
Doctoral Openings: Doctoral (Ph.D) applications are welcome from candidates with strong interest in physics and engineering. Candidates having a Diploma, B.Tech/M.Sc/M.Tech degree in physics or engineering with a good aptitude for experimental work are particularly encouraged to apply. Please send a copy of your CV with a brief statement of your earlier research projects by email to: gbalasu@mpibpc.mpg.de
