Julia graduated from the University of Aberdeen with an M.Sc. in Biomedical Sciences with a focus on Developmental Biology. During this 5-year master's degree, she had the chance to spend one year researching mammalian development in Alexander Aulehla’s lab at EMBL Heidelberg. In Melina's lab, she hopes to combine her passion for fundamental and clinically-relevant research during her PhD studies. In Göttingen, she worked together with Kathleen Scheffler to understand the mechanisms underlying pronuclear migration in mouse zygotes. Since October 2018, she has been running the satellite lab at the Bourn Hall Clinic in Cambridge, conducting basic research on immature human oocytes.
