Workshop program 2022

Oral presentations are expected to be at max. 20 min long plus 5 min for some questions and a short discussion at the end - giving a total time slot of approx. 25 min for each speaker.

This year’s workshop will be arranged as “hybrid setup”, meaning that we will live stream your on-site lecture as Zoom Webinar for our online participants and show your presentation to the audience in the room at the same time. We will provide all the technical equipment (video camera, microphones, connection to beamer etc.) required and you as on-site speakers can choose one of the following two options for your presentation:

Option 1 (preferred!): You bring your own laptop with your presentation to the room, you log in to the zoom session (login credentials in the PDF file that was distributed via email earlier, internet connection available on-site), share your screen (no camera/no microphone) and conduct the presentation with your laptop and the program of your choice. We will broadcast video (will film you as speaker), sound (you will get a separate microphone) and your talk to the beamer (audience in the room) via our equipment. Online participants will see the slides through the screen share. We will read out questions from the online audience to you.

We kindly ask you to make yourself familiar with the software Zoom if you did not use it before and test beforehand how to share your presentation in a convenient way. As backup, please bring your presentation on a USB stick to transfer it to our presentation laptop (Standard Windows 10 System) if necessary (internet connection too slow or not accessible…). For more details, please see option 2 below. Just in case of internet connection problems, please also have your adapter/connector to directly connect to a beamer (HDMI) at hand.

Option 2: You bring your presentation on a USB stick to run it on our presentation laptop we have in the room available. You will get a remote control to switch the slides yourself. Please note, we use a Windows 10 System and running presentations with movies or other special content might be challenging. Please test your presentation at home before and create a PDF file, for example.

Posters

We are planning to offer a poster session on-site on Friday evening for a limited number of posters, and will additinally provide a virtual platform (virtual poster gallery) to include also posters from online participants. The virtual poster gallery will open a few days in advance of the workshop. Link and Password to access it will be distributed via email to all registered participants.

Due to numerous requests, we are pleased to announce that the on-site poster session of this year's Hybrid Workshop will be accompanied by a Zoom Meeting virtual poster session. We cordially invite all interested online participants to join this virtual session on Friday starting at 19:30 CEST.

Requested poster format for on-site presentations

Please note that the poster boards are 84 x 120 cm (width x height) in size, so DIN A0 posters in portrait format are appropriate. Pins and tape to fix your posters on the board will be provided.

Please submit the titles of your poster or oral presentation in title case format! Example: “Lifting Constraints in Protein Molecular Dynamics Simulations”. This will dramatically decrease our workload concerning booklet formatting and allows us to focus on your organizational concerns. Thank you!

Virtual poster gallery

All poster presenters, both online and on-site, have been invited to provide their posters in a virtual poster gallery on a password-protected website that will be activated a few days in advance of the workshop. We would like to allow you to get an overview of the presented posters beforehand to promote exchange amongst participants. We suggest you contact the authors directly via E-Mail if you have any questions (provided underneath the poster) or arrange a meeting (online or on-site). The gallery will be deleted after the workshop has finished.

Link to the gallery including password has been distributed per E-Mail to all participants.

Online poster session

Due to numerous requests, we are pleased to announce that the on-site poster session of this year's Hybrid Workshop will be accompanied by a Zoom Meeting virtual poster session. We cordially invite all interested online participants to join this virtual session on Friday starting at 19:30 CEST. The session will be moderated by Dirk Matthes.

The idea of the virtual poster session is to provide an opportunity to present and highlight your work for all those how cannot join the poster session on-site. It will be moderated, but otherwise conducted in a less formal manner. Please join and raise your hand if you want to present, first come first serve! We will then adapt the format on-the-fly depending on how many are interested in presenting. Ideally we'll have a string of 3-5 min short presentations per poster. Each presenter can use the time to introduce their project and highlight findings briefly. We suggest to have the session more akin to a science slam than an in-depth point by point presentation. We'll have a couple of break out rooms ready where you can have discussions in a smaller crowd right after you presented.
